The lives of countless Danbury youth have been effected positively by their participation in the many program offerings and mentoring that the Harambee center has provided.
What is Harambee? Harambee means unity, working together. The Harambee Center for Youth and Community Services strives to provide a comprehensive array of services. Programming is diverse, ranging from ping pong matches to placement, art classes to computer literacy, and drop-in center to job training. According to Bill Curtis, Director, "Knowing that we are in existence to meet the needs of youth and the community, this range of programs and flexibility in operations is a key to Harambee's success." Mr. Curtis has worked with the center since 1968, and accepted the role as Director in 1974.
