Golden Books and Covey Leadership Center announce new book for the parents of Golden Books readers
NEW YORK, NY (BUSINESS WIRE) - Golden Books and Covey Leadership Center announced today that Golden Books will publish Stephen R. Covey's The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Families as the lead title of the new Golden Books Adult Publishing Group. "We are proud to launch our new imprint with this distinguished author and his important new work," said Robert Asahina, president of Golden Books Adult Publishing. "Stephen Covey offers a philosophical and practical guide to solving problems that confront all families in all cultures, and to creating a family life that improves the effectiveness of both adults and children. Given Golden Books' heritage as one of the most trusted names in children's publishing, we are especially well positioned to address the concerns of childhood and the issues of parenting." The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Families presents the family as the essential organization at the heart of any community, and the key to finding solutions for society's major problems. It brings the same leadership principles that Covey teaches in corporate boardrooms to the family room. The book is scheduled for publication in October 1997, with a first printing of 500,000 copies. This will be the first in a Golden Books library of essential works created to help parents raise effective children and help all adult readers in other areas of their personal lives. John Gray, author of Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus, had this to say about Covey's work: "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Families strikes at the core of the problems society is experiencing in families today. Stephen Covey offers us powerful solutions for solving these dilemmas and the courage needed to make the tough choices to build meaningful, loving relationships." "Golden Books' mission is aligned with Covey Leadership Center's: both organizations seek to help families meet the challenges of a turbulent world," said Greg Link, senior vice president, business development, for Covey Leadership Center. "In producing this book together, we can provide a global audience with a vision of the practical approaches that can help families lead their lives, not just manage them." The Golden Books Adult Publishing Group was formed in 1996 to publish books on family relationships and parenting under the Golden Books name targeted for the parents and grandparents of Golden Books readers. In addition to titles on parenting and child care, it will also feature books addressing the broader concerns of home and family -- from health to self-help, from personal finance to spirituality. Covey Leadership Center, with operations in 21 countries and leadership training products and books printed in 28 languages, has over 12 million books in print and continues to sell more than 1.5 million books per year. Covey Leadership Center works with 82 of the Fortune 100, more than two-thirds of the Fortune 500, thousands of small institutions, communities, families, and millions of individual consumers worldwide. The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People is currently being taught to teachers and administrators in more than 3,000 school districts and universities nationwide, while comprehensive statewide initiatives have been formed with education leaders in 27 states. |
