GPU Energy to launch first utility-sponsored
website dedicated to education

MORRISTOWN, NJ - A world of resources for students, parents and educators is just a click away on a new website to be introduced by GPU Energy on Feb. 28. GPUKIDS features a variety of stimulating curricula, activities and information that can be easily accessed from a personal computer. GPU Energy is the first electric utility to offer an interactive website dedicated exclusively to education.

GPUKIDS appeals to younger students through a selection of games, contests and coloring books. Older students can find valuable current information in the energy library. Teachers and administrators can easily obtain information on the environment, conservation and electrical safety.

"We are a long time advocate of education and have developed programs for schools throughout our service area," said GPU Energy President Dennis Baldassari. "GPUKIDS brings an innovative global approach to education via the World Wide Web. We are excited about the opportunities it will provide students, educators and administrators as we move forward into the new millennium."

To help facilitate the launch of GPUKIDS, GPU Energy is arranging for the donation and installation of computers to selected schools across its service territory. "The selection of innovative programs we provide for educators will now be available on-line," said Crystal Seitz, manager - community initiatives. "Providing the hardware to access these valuable tools assures that educators and students can easily utilize these resources."
